Silvio Cruschina specialises in Romance linguistics and in the history and structure of the Romance languages, in particular Italian, Sicilian, and other dialects of Italy. He studied at the Universities of Siena and Cambridge. His doctorate (Cambridge, 2008/2009) was on the interaction between syntax and pragmatics and on the correspondences between word order alternations and interpretive effects in Romance, within a cartographic approach to syntactic structures. His research interests include generative syntax, morphology, phonology, evidentiality, historical linguistics, and morphosyntactic change.
